The other day I watched a TV programme about British 20th century abstract artists and there was one bloke whose name I can’t remember who said that he started with a mark and then waited for it to prompt a second mark and so on.   I gave it a try … these three are in the order in which I painted them:

66 - Abstract Art 1

66 - Abstract Art 3

66 - Abstract Art 2

I can’t remember if one of them said how long it took but mine were each most of a day.

A description of what the process feels like comes, not from an artist, but from the French composer, Edgard Varese (1883-1965): ‘Form is the result of a process.   Each of my works discovers its own form’.
